Background
In the last number of years the waste water system in the estate has been overwhelmed and there has been some very limited flooding events in a few areas within the estate, however I do not believe any houses have been directly affected
A proposed solution (that DLRCC or Uisce Eireann may be willing to fund to provide some funding for)
Implement water butts on housing stock for rain water harvesting (500 - 100 liters)
Implement rain water planters for housing stock that can also store hundreds of liters of water during a rain storm depending on size
Benefits & costs
If a large amount of the houses in the estate implemented above, the overall solution could store tens of thousands of liters of rain water which reduce the overall rain water volume impacting the estate drainage infrastructure thus decreasing the overall load on the infrastructure and maybe mitigating the cost of exspensive drainage upgrades by DLRCC or Uisce Eireann in the estate for a period of time
Lots of harvested water to use on your garden during hot periods or if there is a hose ban etc
Loss cost of implementation or funded through DLRCC as alligns with overall development plan
The bottom line
Rainwater events are getting larger and the drainage system is showing signs within the estate that it cannot fully cope with large rainwater events which could lead to flooding events that could effect householders within the estate depending on your location in the estate
